Work with me

In addition to writing novels, I love collaborating with educators, students, and fellow writers to celebrate books and hone our craft. There are a number of ways to work with me, ranging from scheduling an author visit to booking teaching workshops and even individual manuscript consultation. Contact me so we can discuss your specific needs and pricing.

Appearances

I’d be delighted to visit your school, zoom with your students, attend your book festival, or participate in a thought-provoking panel. If you’d like you to make me part of the fun, please email me and share the following information:

  • Your name and contact information
  • Event type (school visit, book festival, writer conference, etc.)
  • Event date(s)
  • Event location*
  • What you’d like from me (talk & signing, presentation, teaching, etc.)

*Please note that any appearances more than 100 miles outside New York City will require the host to provide air travel, local transportation, and hotel accommodations

Craft Workshops

Teaching is a personal passion and I’ve developed a number of craft workshops for developing writers and seasoned professionals. Depending on your needs, workshops can range from 2-hour seminars online to multi-day intensives in which participants make substantive, real-time headway on topics such as: Plot, World-building, Protagonists & Villains, Voice, and Revision

Story Consultations

Has your story hit a roadblock? Is your manuscript crying out for fresh eyes and feedback from someone candid, creative, and experienced? If so, contact me to arrange a Brainstorming Session or Manuscript Feedback.

Brainstorming Session
A lively working session over Zoom or Skype in which we discuss whatever’s giving you fits when it comes to a particular character, scene, plot device, etc. You talk, I listen, and then we collaborate on creative options that don’t merely address the respective issue(s) but get you excited about diving back into your story.

Manuscript Feedback
For those who have a completed fiction manuscript, I’ll read it closely and provide feedback in the form of an editorial letter and videocall that addresses plot; structure & pacing; character development; style and voice; and world-building.

For each element, I’ll share my detailed perspective on what’s working, along with specific suggestions to bolster areas that may need more TLC. Please note that this service focuses on big-picture story components and their execution. Consultations do not include downstream processes, such as line editing, copy editing, or submissions to literary agents and publishers.
